Get required vaccinations for your destination. Some require multiple doses over time.

Learn about your destination: culture, laws, safety, schools, housing, and services.

Establish general and specific POAs for stateside matters: property, taxes, legal issues.

Alert financial institutions of overseas move. Set up international access and fraud alerts.

Understand your Cost of Living Allowance, OHA (Overseas Housing Allowance), and utility allowances.

Get IDP from AAA. Some countries require host nation license - research requirements.

Research electrical standards (110V vs 220V) and plug types for your destination.

Research carrier options, local SIM cards, and VoIP services like Google Voice.

Passports, orders, medical records, birth certificates, marriage certificate, POA - never check these.
